GSO stands for Gd2SiO5 (gadolinium orthosilicate), which is a scintillation crystal material used in various types of radiation detectors. It has good light output, energy resolution, and timing properties, and is commonly used in positron emission tomography (PET) scanners, as well as in high-energy physics and nuclear physics experiments. Compared to other scintillation materials, GSO has a relatively short decay time, which makes it suitable for fast timing applications.
